Romantic sunset view at Burj Khalifa

Just fifteen to twenty minutes from The Address, Marina, we arrived at Dubai Mall by taxi. We decided to just walk around the area to find a nice spot to watch the evening fountain show and get a good shot of Burj Khalifa at night.

Strolling outside the mall will give you a nice view of the world’s tallest skyscraper – the Burj Khalifa towering at a height of 829.8 meters (excluding the antenna).

Inside the mall, you can just scan around the stores for a good buy or just look around on those fancy luxury shops. Aside from window shopping, you may also want try out some activities like their ice skating rink and the aquarium. The aquarium also holds a Guinness World Record as displayed in the area, the view from outside is so huge so I guess there’s plenty to see when you get inside and have a tour on their zoo as well.

Walking around the mall you will see this fountain wall mural. It is something you will definitely not miss as its an iconic mural where most are taking their photos.

Since this is our first day in Dubai, we were really not yet into shopping but just looking around and see what to buy and where to eat and mentally computing how much from our allowance can be allocated to shopping. I personally don’t have anything in mind to buy on these shops coz I only want to get jewelry once we go to the Gold Souk. There’s also Souk Al Bahar near the mall but we didn’t manage to go there. It’s also a nice spot for dining and view of the fountain show and they sell souvenirs too.

So after a good walk around the mall, we decided to find a nice restaurant to have our early dinner and to hang out to watch the fountain show. We chose a restaurant with al fresco dining on the 2nd floor overlooking the man-made Burj Khalifa lake. I am sorry I cannot find any photos of the food we ordered, I assume I was too hungy then and did not mind taking photos coz the reason why we went there is just to see the Burj Khalifa and watch the fountain show.

Here’s a view of the lake and sunset from the restaurant:

Here’s an excerpt video of the foundatin show, if I remember it correctly, it starts at 6:00 in the evening and plays every 30 minutes. They have different songs and fountain effects so you may want to watch 2 or 3 songs to appreciate it fully.

Happy watching! Next we go to Day 2 in Abu Dhabi for Ferrari World, Grand Mosque and Emirates Palace.
